Ready for kick-off

The Rosengarten Schlern Skymarathon powered by Dynafit enters its third round on Saturday, July 13th. Due to thunderstorms and construction work, there will be minor deviations from the course, but these will be perfectly marked.

"The biggest change concerns the last kilometres of the long course to the finish line in the village, where a change in the course was necessary due to construction work," explains Bernhard Rieder, OC manager of the Rosengarten Schlern Skymarathon, and at this point thanks his staff in the OC team for their excellent cooperation.
500 runners, consisting of a mixed field of athletes and amateur athletes, will start on Saturday at 7.00 a.m. in St. Zyprian to tackle this long, hard but fantastic mountain run around the Rosengarten massif. This year, a relatively large number of runners have opted for the short route, which leads back to Tiers via the Tschamin Valley with 36 kilometres and 2,000 metres of altitude difference, while the long route with 45 kilometres and 3,000 metres of altitude difference leads across the Tierser Alpl, the Sciliar and the Tschafon to the finish. The first athletes of the short distance are expected around 10 a.m. and those of the long ones around noon at the finish in Tiers, where the summer party of the amateur sports club takes place.
Last year's two winners of the short distance, Susi Lell and Andres Ludwig, will be at the start again and will have strong competitors for the title with the two Dynafit athletes Maria Koller and Daniele Felicetti respectively Enzo Romeri. On the long track Silvia Serafini and Marc Gamper Slanzi are among the favourites. Also at the start are about ten Tierser runners, among them the president of the sports club Johann Rieder for the first time.
Runners from these 12 nations are currently registered: Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Great Britain, USA, Norway, Netherlands, Sweden and Slovakia. New this year is the finish photo service for everyone who would like a reminder of this day.

The long route of 45 kilometres with a 2,980 metre ascent and a 3,083 metre descent leads over the Cigolade Pass (variant towards Ciamedie and Gardeccia if unviable), the Passo Principe/Grasleitenpass and the Molignon Pass to the Sciliar; after the Devil's Gorge - also known as the Prügelweg – a final ascent leads up to the Tschafon before the finish line in the centre of the village of Tiers.
Due to its length and the difference in altitude it is a mountain marathon. The name "Sky Marathon" describes the length and alpine characteristics of the trail run at over 2,000 metres.
